USSP Holiday Season Open Play December 11th.
at The Pickleball Space
Forty seniors enjoying social play and holiday spirit.
Join us next week as we close out the season.
Arizona USSP Members Embrace the Grassroots Programs
West valley US Senior Pickleball members enjoyed low cost play this summer at Center Court Pickleball Club in Glendale.
The Summer Series was the "kickoff" event, with 12 weeks of free open play for 2 hours every Thursday, providing social play and escape from the "toasty" Arizona summer sun.
Snacks and bananas were provided each week and the Humana team provided water and some beginner paddle sets", provided by Jerry Autry with Humana, which were raffled off as well as a $25.00 Center Court gift card.
Because of the overwhelming response, we added a fall series which is currently under way.
Some of the more competitive players inquired about low-cost league play which USSP and Humana supported.
Our six week Fall Social League, which recently ended, was also a resounding success. Limited to 30 players each week, the league registration is full within 5 minutes of opening.
A follow up Holiday Social League is scheduled to begin soon and will take us through Halloween and Thanksgiving.
We are looking forward to the 2026 Grassroots programs.
Holiday Season Open Play
With the Holiday Season upon us, it is difficult to schedule organized open play, not knowing how many players to plan and schedule for.
The Pickleball Space in Glendale, AZ. solved that problem for us by graciously offering USSP members low cost open play on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and 40 plus players took advantage of the offer this Thursday.
Hope to see you on the courts!
USSP Holiday Social League Week 02
Thirty intrepid seniors graced the courts today for some spirited social league play and bragging rights.
Once again, we had a full slate of 30 players for our weekly rounds of matches. This week saw 5 new players on the courts and brought our 6 week tally to 70 different players.
I was without my trusted friend, Paul Sirois, who guided me through my first attempt at hosting a league, and because of his tutelage, it went off without a hitch.
While visiting with the players between matches I learned that many set an alarm to notify them that registration for each week is open, and the 30 slots are typically filled within 5 minutes.
Many thanks to Center Court, Paul, the players, Jerry Autry with Humana, US Senior Pickleball and Humana, for making this event so successful, and because the league was so popular, USSP and Humana are supporting another 6 week Social League.
Be on the lookout for the USSP Holiday Social league starting next week, same time and venue.
See you on the courts!
